Happy Birthday Jenny!

Yesterday was Jenny's birthday and the only gift she mentioned wanting was a livingroom. She has lived in an apartment in my parents' basement for more than eight years and the room that should be her living/dining room has always been a storeroom, so Valerie spearheaded the project and organized the family. Sam, her kids, and I took Jenny shopping to pick out light fixtures and paint colors and we started early Saturday cleaning out the room, taping, mudding, texturing the ceiling, and even got part of it primed. Everyone in the family helped with donations of time or money or both. This project will go for several more weekends, but it will be such a nice space for her. So happy birthday Jenny! Thanks for all you do for our family.

35 Years and Counting

I've decided to join the blogging world and thought that today, my 35th wedding anniversary, would be a good place to start. Jim and I were married on a pleasant August day in the Salt Lake Temple and celebrated with a luncheon at The Lion House featuring stuffed pork chops--I don't remember anything else on the menu, but if it was The Lion House there had to be rolls. We had a reception that evening in the garden of The Edelweiss at The Heidelberg Restaurant in Farmington, a place that no longer exists as a restaurant, but is now a private residence. In its day, it was pretty high class.
Through the years we've had our ups and downs, joys and sorrows, but it has mostly just been good. Seven children, three sons-in-law, five grandchildren, and more cats than I can count have joined our family and we're hoping for more--in-laws and grandkids, that is. Our adventures have taken us to Puerto Rico, Alaska, and Spain, but home is Farmington.
But today I just want to say thanks Jim for 35 great ones and here's to many more. As cheesy as it sounds, this blog is dedicated to the one I love.
