Girls' Night

For a long time my desire to start a monthly Girls' Night with my daughters resulted in a lot of talk but no action. Finally, several months ago we began doing rather than talking. We had a scrapbooking party in October and in November we held a mini-baby shower for two cousins who live out of state. We got together and wrapped their gifts, then mailed them. We gave a well received Christmas performance to our ward's elderly, followed by a delicious gourmet meal in December. And last month we went to see the movie, "Twilight". Tonight, Melissa taught us all to crochet around burp cloths. We had a good time, although we did feel slightly uncoordinated at first and made plenty of mistakes--every "shoot" or "darn" was accompanied by lots of laughter. I cherish any time I get to spend with these wonderful young women.

Rings & Things

Stephanie is sporting a new piece of jewelry! She became engaged to her long time boyfriend, Danny Barton, on Valentine's Day. The big day is set for May 29th. Other details will be forthcoming, but all friends and family please save the date. We would love to have you share this occasion with us.

Roses Are Red

For many years I could claim that the only time that Jim had ever given me flowers was prior to our marriage--it was even before we started dating. They were actually an apology for how badly he had teased me at a young adult dinner we had both attended. As for the ensuing years, I guess we didn't have enough money or he didn't know how much I would enjoy the gesture or something like that. Since he finally caught on, I'm lucky enough to receive a bouquet several times a year. He has even had them delivered to the school where I'm employed a couple of times, which has made the other females that work there a little envious. So this beautiful bouquet of red roses is the valentine he gave me this year. Thanks Jim, my best friend and husband. And Happy Valentine's Day to you and all who read this blog.

Another Celebration

Thirty-one years ago today the cutest little boy in the world joined our family. I can say that because he's the only one that came to us other than the ones that have joined our clan through marriage. From tooting his own horn (the French one) to that mischievous question he was asking just to see if we knew the answer, Joel has always been a favorite son. We are grateful for his goodness and patience and the life track that he is traveling.

Next...

Next in line for family birthdays is Brandon, our oldest grandchild, who is seven years old today. How well I remember the exciting day of his birth and how I couldn't wait to tell everyone that I was finally a grandmother. How fast these years have flown. Happy birthday Brandon! We're sure glad that you came to our family!
